Building - Construction
Your house construction starts. First we excavate for the base. The architects and structural engineer will have given us instructions as to how far we have to excavate. In most cases in Crete you find bedrock very quickly. In some areas the engineer and the building office will require a geological survey of the area on which we are going to build. The diggers move in and in most cases within five days the excavation is completed.
Next the concrete form work for the base is constructed. The base will contain steel reinforcing bars and cages which help to absorb the shock from an earthquake. The base plates for the steel frame of the building are meticulously positioned and finally the concrete is poured. Once the concrete has cured, your base is complete.
Whilst the base has been constructed the steel frame will have been manufactured by our specialist sub-contractor. Once the base is ready they will visit site and construct the framework of the building. When complete we can build the walls, floors and roof. Within five to six weeks of the start date the shell of your building is complete. During this phase the electrical and plumbing first fix of cables, conduits and pipes will also have been completed.
Now we are ready to finish the outside and inside of the house to your specification, whether it is render, plaster, stonework or any other finish specified by the architects. Floors will be tiled. Windows and doors are fitted and finally everything is taking shape. Now can we fit out your bathrooms and kitchen, complete the plumbing and electrical work and decorate. External landscaping can now be completed, patios constructed and we are ready to hand over the property to you.
